  • The Arts Building

Arts Building 450pxWork started on the new Arts Building in 1972 on the field between the old SU building and the Horton Laboratory. Work was completed in 1975 and the building was occupied by the English, Classics, History, French and German Departments which had been previously scattered but focused within Founders.

  • Wakehurst

Wettons Terrace2 450pxWakehurst appears to be one of three buildings linked together, with the other two in the group being Chevithorne & Mount Royal. These also seem to referred to (at times) as Wettons Terrace. Does anyone know what the history of these three buildings is - have they always been a single terrace of buildings or was Chevithorne a separate house at some point that has been extended?. Anyway, all three are linked together on the 1980 Campus guide and at some point I'll go and visit and see if I can learn more.

  • Woodlands

Woodlands 450px Another of those large houses on the other side of the A30 where so much development has taken place its hard to know what is new and what is old!. Woodlands was a building used by the Music department in the latter part of the 70s with the department making use of this building and Wakehurst. The picture is a fairly recent one of a building which seems to be in the same location as in the campus plan and it does have a sign on it to say Woodlands.
