The building of the swimming pool and the building that housed was completed in 1983. Along with the gymnasium (which was housed in the Founders in the basement below the Library) it provided indoors sports facilities for staff and students. The pool was very much rooted in that earlier age. It sometimes felt as if it had not been updated since the College first opened. The process for getting access to it probably deterred many but was seen as a challenge by others.
You could, it is rumoured, pick up a key for it from the Egham locksmith by just requesting the correct number and there were many occasions when someone who had formally booked the key out was surprised when their swimming sessions were interupted by others who seemed to have an alternate access. The air conditioning system (which comprised of an open window) was a favourite form of access
The building was damaged by falling tree in 1981 and decayed significantly and never again opened as a swimming pool. It is now known as Jane Holloway Hall and is used as a teaching facility.
